Self-assembly of Carbon Vacancies in Sub-stoichiometric ZrC1−x
Sub-stoichiometric interstitial compounds, including binary transition metal carbides (MC(1-x)), maintain structural stability even if they accommodate abundant anion vacancies. This unique character endows them with variable-composition, diverse-configuration and controllable-performance through composition and structure design. Herein, the evolution of carbon vacancy (VC) configuration in sub...
متن کاملOxygen vacancies promoting photoelectrochemical performance of In2O3 nanocubes
This work reports a facile method for preparing the new photoactive In(2)O(3) films as well as their implementation in photoelectrochemical (PEC) application. We firstly investigated the relationship between oxygen vacancies (V(O)) and PEC performance and revealed a rule between them. We found that the optimized In(2)O(3-n) sample yielded a photocurrent density up to 3.83 mA/cm(2) in 1 M Na(2)S...
متن کاملOxygen electroreduction promoted by quasi oxygen vacancies in metal oxide nanoparticles prepared by photoinduced chlorine doping.
Quasi oxygen-deficient indium tin oxide nanoparticles (ITO NPs) were prepared by photoinduced chlorine doping, and exhibited much enhanced electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in alkaline media, as compared with pristine ITO.
متن کاملImproving Spectrum Sensing Performance by Exploiting Multiuser Diversity
In traditional wireless systems, spectrum or frequency is allocated to licensed users over a geographic area. Within these constraints, spectrum is considered a scarce resource due to static spectrum allocation. Recent empirical studies of radio spectrum usage have shown that licensed spectrum is typically highly underutilized (Broderson et al., 2004; McHenry, 2003). To recapture the so-called ...
متن کاملExchange between sub-surface and surface oxygen vacancies on CeO2(111): a new surface diffusion mechanism.
Using first principles calculations for O vacancy diffusion on CeO(2)(111), we locate a surface diffusion mechanism, the two-step O vacancy exchange one, which is more favored than the most common hopping mechanism. By analyzing the results, we identify quantitatively the physical origin of why the two-step exchange mechanism is preferred.
